4/25/08 ZOOMA Annapolis Runners to Celebrate at Over-the-Top Post-Race Party April 25, 2008, WASHINGTON, D.C. Today ZOOMA Annapolis announced the details of its After Party-Expo on June 1 at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. The party is uniquely tailored for ZOOMA’s runners with wine and champagne, spa treatments, a unique silver necklace for all race finishers, live music, and shopping. Barefoot Wines will provide free wine and champagne for all After Party attendees, and participants will enjoy live music from David Andrew Smith and the Doug Segree Band and lunch from Bo Brooks Catering. Spa treatments will be sponsored by Varuna Salon Spa, a new Aveda salon and spa in Annapolis. ZOOMA also revealed the much-anticipated post-race gift for race finishers, sponsored by ZOOMA Women’s Race Series and Saturn. Unlike many events that offer medals for race finishers, ZOOMA Annapolis runners will receive a specially-designed silver necklace to commemorate their participation in ZOOMA’s inaugural event. Runners will be presented with the jewelry gift after crossing the finish line in Jonas Green Park. “A fantastic post-race party and a fabulous finishers’ gift is a big part of what we are trying to accomplish with ZOOMA Annapolis,” said Brae Blackley, executive director of ZOOMA Women’s Race Series. “Training for and completing a half marathon or 10K is something to be proud of, and we want to give our runners the opportunity to reward themselves and celebrate that great achievement with family and friends.” The post-race party will be held in the ’53 Pavilion in the end zone of the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. Runners and spectators at the post-race party will have the opportunity to browse booths with innovative and creative products that are particularly relevant for active women. New Balance and Fleet Feet Annapolis will team up to educate runners on proper shoes and apparel and will be selling running gear. Corazonas, a California-based company, will give away free samples of their heart-healthy tortilla chips. Gracie’s Gear and Training will sell sports bras with the patented POWER POUCH™, allowing women to comfortably carry an mp3 player, cell phone, identification, or gels during workouts. ZICO will offer samples of its naturally healthy coconut water, great for rehydration and replenishment after workouts. 4/1/08 ZOOMA Women’s Race Series Announces Route for Annapolis Half Marathon & 10K April 1, 2008, WASHINGTON, D.C. Today ZOOMA Women’s Race Series announced the half marathon and 10K routes for the inaugural ZOOMA Annapolis Half Marathon & 10K to be held on June 1, 2008 in Annapolis, MD. The newly designed route, never before used by a running or walking event, starts at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis and finishes on the waterfront at Jonas Green Park in Anne Arundel County. Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis are co-sponsors of the event. “Being active is an important ingredient to a healthy, long life,” said Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold. “We are pleased to welcome ZOOMA Women’s Race Series to Anne Arundel County and to support its mission of inspiring women and families to lead healthier lives.” Runners will traverse the stately Naval Academy Bridge and take in the beautiful foliage of the B&A Trail before finishing on the waterfront at Jonas Green Park. Runners will park at the Stadium, and shuttles will bring runners from the finish line at Jonas Green Park to the Stadium for an over-the-top post-race celebration, including a catered lunch, shopping, mini spa treatments, music, giveaways and more. “In cooperation with the City of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County, we have designed a really special event for ZOOMA Annapolis runners,” said Brae Blackley, Executive Director of ZOOMA Women’s Race Series. “The race route has fabulous views of the Severn River and will be absolutely beautiful on June 1.” County Executive John Leopold will kick off the race and give encouraging words to the runners before they begin the half marathon or 10K challenge. 3/10/08 ZOOMA Women’s Race Series Announces Group Training Runs starting March 15 Lace up your shoes and get ready to run as ZOOMA Women’s Race Series announces the start of their 12-week training program leading up to the ZOOMA Annapolis Half Marathon & 10K on June 1, 2008. ZOOMA Women’s Race Series, a new national series of women’s running events, is offering free group training runs beginning March 15, 2008 at two locations in the D.C. metro area to help runners get fit for the inaugural series event. “We are excited to offer multiple group training opportunities for ZOOMA runners in the DC area,” said Brae Blackley, Executive Director of ZOOMA Women’s Race Series. “We see these runs as a great opportunity for ZOOMA runners of all skill levels to connect and motivate one another to accomplish their fitness goals.” Training groups will meet on Saturday mornings at Fleet Feet Annapolis and Pacers’ new Fairfax location. Water support will be provided and experienced runners will be on hand to answer questions. No registration is necessary to participate in weekend training runs. ZOOMA Trainer is a personalized coaching and group training website offered free to all ZOOMA runners. Users can find or form training groups in their area, ask confidential questions of a certified coach, and take advantage of tips and advice on the blog and downloads page. Announcing CARE – ZOOMA’s National Charity Partner JANUARY 28, 2008 - Washington, D.C.: ZOOMA Women’s Race Series, a new national series of women’s running events today announced that CARE, the global poverty-fighting organization, is their National Charity Partner for 2008. The partnership will create a link between ZOOMA runners and I Am Powerful, CARE’s campaign to engage women in the US in the lives of impoverished women around the world. ZOOMA will encourage runners to form special “CARE” teams and provide the opportunity for them to empower their counterparts in developing countries by fundraising for CARE. As part of their participation in the race and related events, ZOOMA will donate at least $3 of every entry fee to CARE. “I Am Powerful” resonates with women runners who are juggling work and family to accomplish a challenging health and fitness goal. The ZOOMA Trainer is Live! January 7, 2008 - Washington, D.C.: Today ZOOMA Women’s Race Series launched the ZOOMA Trainer, a complimentary online training site for all ZOOMA runners. The ZOOMA Trainer offers twelve-week run and run/walk training programs for the half marathon and 10K distances and also offers participants one-on-one interactive coaching with a certified personal trainer. For a face-to-face experience, ZOOMA participants can utilize the Trainer’s group training network to connect with other runners training for ZOOMA races in their area. Other offerings of the Trainer include a training log, personalized training calendar, product reviews and tips, and special discounts from ZOOMA partners. Price Increase February 2! January 15, 2008 - Washington, D.C.: Registration is still open for the ZOOMA Annapolis Half Marathon & 10K, to be held on June 1, 2008 in Annapolis, Maryland, but event directors today announced they expect to cap registration at 2,000 in the first year of the boutique women’s event. Currently, registration for the half marathon is $85 and for the 10K is $45. The price for both events will increase by $10 on February 2. Online registration is available through the ZOOMA website at www.zoomarun.com. ZOOMA races offer a “girls’ weekend” atmosphere with a host of pampering amenities, including mini spa treatments and wine tastings at the post-race party.
