Run for CARE, raise money and win great CARE prizes!

CARE is partnering with ZOOMA Women’s Race Series to empower women in the fight against global poverty. Women and girls are at the heart of CARE’s efforts to improve education, health and economic opportunity because experience shows that a woman’s achievements yield dramatic benefits for her family and her community.

Now YOU have the opportunity support women through CARE.  Invite your friends and family to raise money for CARE during the ZOOMA race and empower women around the world! 

How to become a CARE fundraiser and become eligible for great prizes:
Step One:  Register for the event by selecting “register” from the menu option above and follow the directions to register for the race. At least $3 of your entry fee goes to support CARE’s poverty-fighting work.
Step Two:  At the end of the registration process, you will be asked if you want to set up a CARE online fundraising page. Select “YES ".   
Step Three:  You will then receive an email from support@active.com informing you that your online fundraising page has been created. The email will also include a link directing you to your "fundraising headquarters" where you can begin customizing your fundraising page.

Individual Fundraisers – Receive a special token of appreciation!
$100 Raised:  You are eligible to receive an original “ZOOMA - CARE I Am Powerful t-shirt” as thanks from CARE!  Show everyone that you believe in the power of women. Limited to first 100 participants to reach this goal.

$500 Raised: You are eligible to receive a beautiful hand-embroidered silk purse from India, made by participants of a CARE project. Limited to first 50 participants to reach this goal.

$1500 Raised:  You are eligible to receive a handcrafted sterling-silver necklace from Peru, made from participants of a CARE project. Limited to first 25 participants to reach this goal.

$5000 Raised: You are eligible to receive a limited edition photograph of a CARE project participant from the Women Empowered collection, taken by award-winning photographer Phil Borges. Limited to first 5 participants to reach this goal. 

Team Fundraisers – You could really be going places with CARE
$10,000 Raised:  Run for the Hill!  Travel to CARE’s National Conference in Washington, DC. Use your voice to take action by meeting with members of Congress and advocating on behalf of policies that empower women. Limited to the first team to hit this goal, and maximum of 5 participants.

$25,000 Raised: Travel to a CARE project in Latin America to experience CARE's work to empower women and observe first-hand the extraordinary efforts of our heroes in the field committed to the fight against poverty. Limited to the first team to hit this goal and maximum of 5 travelers.  Travel must occur between January and June of 2009.

CARE has partnered with CBS fitness expert, professional triathlete and best-selling author Eric Harr to launch the I Am Powerful Workout with Eric Harr, a campaign to help Americans achieve their health and fitness goals while taking action to fight poverty by empowering marginalized women around the world. 

The idea behind the I am Powerful Workout is simple: seize the moment and empower yourself with better health as you empower women and families in poor communities around the world to improve their lives.

Set a goal for yourself – whether it’s quitting smoking, losing ten pounds or running your first marathon.

Raise money for CARE simply by exercising. For every hour you work out, Eric Harr will donate $5 to CARE.  Eric's goal is to contribute $1 million to CARE, triggered by your workout hours.  Work out five hours this week, and you will have automatically raised $25 for CARE. Feel good while doing good.
